Our Story

Michael and I grew up about 2 miles apart, knew most of the same people, and in a small town it's hard to believe we met for the first time (that we know of) in 2004 through a mutual friend. We were introduced and no sparks flew, no magical light shown on us, we didn't start running to each other in slow motion, and neither one of us knew that the other was our missing half. We saw each other a few times at gatherings and became aquaintances who enjoyed each others' company. I remember a certain occasion at a get-together with some friends and I was so excited and relieved that Michael had arrived. He instantly made me more comfortable even though I didn't think I had been uncomfortable before he got there. I still didn't think we would be dating but only knew I enjoyed his company.  In November of 2005 Michael came to visit me at school and brought me flowers. I was never the girl that got many flowers. We went out to dinner with my roommate and played Mad-Gab. Oh, how romantical.
Later on that night we talked. We talked about how neither one of us really wanted to be in a serious relationship but liked to spend time together. We didn't want a relationship to dictate our lives and didn't want things to get too complicated. I had plans. He had plans. Since that day, there has not been one day we have not talked and only a handful of days we haven't seen each other.

After a little more than 6 months of dating Michael quit his job and asked my daddy if he could marry me...on the same day. On the first day of his new job, Michael proposed. I guess if you are going to do some changing, best to get it all out of the way at the same time. So much for 'not complicated'.
Not long after we were engaged, Momma and Daddy offered for Michael to move into the Little House until we moved to Texas. It would save him on rent and gas. It also inadvertently made him truly family.

Our wedding was June 2, 2007. It was a beautiful, amazing, magnificent blur. Not even 3 months later, we packed up everything and moved away from our little house in the country.
The past 3 and 1/2 years we have lived in a tiny apartment right outside of Houston. We have made a home and a life for ourselves. Now it is almost time for a new phase in our lives. We are moving back to The Little House as we find out what God has planned for us.

When I was in college back home, Momma put a letter in my laundry that had a note from her and this verse:
"For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future".  Jeremiah 29:11
She didn't know what an amazing husband God had planned for me. She didn't know that how blessed we would be. She didn't know exactly how much my life was going to change over the next few years. But God did. And He is the same God yesterday as He is today and forever.
