Making Texas Memories: Galveston

We made one last trip down to Galveston before we move.

First we went by the Moody Mansion to get some ideas for our dream house.

I want a rose garden in an area like this.

I want doors like this.

With handles like these.

Too bad they won't allow you take pictures inside. It was beautiful.

I love all the old buildings on and around the strand in Galveston.

Making Texas Memories: Drives Home

Very soon, we will be making our last trip back to God's country for a visit.
After that, we will be staying for good.

Our trips home have been full of adventures.
We have taken just about every possible route trying to cut down travel time.
Let me tell you, the amount of time is all the same.

On our adventures, we have seen some strange stuff.

Making Texas Memories: Fancy Shmancy

The school has a gala every year to raise money for scholarships and such.
We snagged some tickets and got to get all dressed up.

V and her husband, Hal, also were able to snag some tickets.

They took this picture.

Here's what led up to this picture.

Making Texas Memories: Canada Day and a British 4th of July

Our first year here, we were invited by some friendly Canadians to celebrate Canada Day.

Yay, Canada!

Since Canada Day is July 1st, it's the same week as 4th of July.
That particular year, we were also invited to a 4th of July party...by a British family.

Making Texas Memories: Cake Balls

I promised V I would teach her how to make cake balls before we moved.
Her son, L, wanted to learn too.

He's a little multi-tasker.

These are good days.

Making Texas Memories: Austin

In December of 2008, before we were pet owners, before we had to worry about pet-friendly hotels, before we had to plan our trips based on rest-stops with the best grass, we made a trip to Austin.

We stayed right off 6th street in a hotel that only did valet parking and they insist on carrying your luggage for you.
This was strange and stressful for us.
You have to be completely prepared to be rushed out of your car with everything you need on you and with tip in hand. We would start organizing everything several blocks from the hotel.

I will have you know, Austin is hilly.
There were a few times I thought I was going to have to get out and push our 4 cylinder Cavalier.

We got so many house design ideas from the capital.

These stairs. Yes!

The intricate designs. Oh yeah.

The archways. Absolutely.

The sky-light.  Take me away...

We didn't take many pictures on our trip, because our hands needed to stay warm.

Check out the fountain... That's what our fingers felt like.
